| Toby Gard leaves Crystal Dynamics |
| September 15th, 2009 |

Toby Gard, Tomb Raider co-creator, has left game development studio Crystal Dynamics from Eidos, a wholly owned subsidiary of Square Enix Holding,
earlier this month to set up his own consultancy business.
Gard was leading a design group for an unannounced project at the studio from the beginning of this year.
"Obviously it’s confidential what goes on at Crystal Dynamics," says Gard today, "but the situation is that I’m no longer working with them, and I’ve started up my own consultancy business."
Toby Gard has been working for Eidos and Crystal Dynamics from August 2004 as a Game Consultant
for Tomb Raider: Legend and the reboot of the franchise. Later Gard was the Cinematics Director on
Tomb Raider: Anniversary, out in June 2007 and Tomb Raider: Underworld that was released
in November 2008.
Gard is currently a freelance consultant, with a focus on animation, story and cinematic design, character design, game design and balancing.
