Eidos announces that the multi-million selling Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness is coming to Sony’s
PlayStation 2 Platinum range. Originally released in June
2003, Lara Croft’s chart-topping epic adventure, her first
on PlayStation 2, will be available from April 9th 2004.
Accused of the murder of her former mentor, Werner Von Croy,
Lara becomes a fugitive on the run. In an attempt to clear
her name, she has no choice but to confront the secret
alliance whose destiny it is to take over the world. With
explosive action and a gripping story, Tomb Raider: The
Angel of Darkness is Lara’s most dangerous adventure yet.
Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness introduces a whole host
of new gameplay features including interaction with other
characters and the ability to improve Lara’s strength and
speed depending on how well you play the game. This
character evolution will reward the more adventurous player
by enabling them to climb or leap into areas that were
previously inaccessible. For the first time in a Tomb Raider
game there is a second playable character for you to control
– Kurtis Trent, who you play as for certain parts of the
game.
The adventure begins with Lara travelling to Paris following
a phone call from Von Croy. She arrives to find the city
paralysed with fear, and Von Croy the latest victim in a
series of horrific murders. Travelling through Paris and
Prague Lara uncovers the terrifying world of the alchemist
Eckhardt, and his plot to reawaken the powers of the ancient
race of the Nephilim. Lara finds herself not only the
hunter, but also the hunted. In her struggle to unravel the
trail left by Von Croy, Lara gets drawn into a world of
underworld deals, grotesque murders, the dark side of an
advanced form of alchemy and a history of blood, betrayal
and vengeance spanning across hundreds of years.
